3 different theories

Uses and Gratifications Theory
This is the theory that media had uses for the audience such as entertainment, information and education and integration, social interaction and finally escapism.

Hypodermic needle Theory

This theory explains that Multi Media inject passive audiences with information that they will believe no matter what such as certain propaganda where they then go and commit a crime or hurt somebody because they believe what somebody told them.

Reception Theory

this theory is kind of the opposite to the Hyperdermic needle theory, it is opposite because in the HD Theory, the audience are passive and believe what the media feeds them, in this theory they're 3 different types of audiences that have different opinions.

Production Diary Ident

QUESTIONS

Idea 1
The design is attracting the audience through the narrative, because in the Ident there is music from the 1960's, 80's and 2000's, this will attract a young and an older audience, i think this would attract the audience because of the music involved will appeal to them.

This design is a reflection because it suits the channel and who they appeal to the reason why it it fits the spirit of the channel because of the light heartedness of the channel but also the age of the channel (1960's)  is very similar to to when part of the narrative is set. Adding to this the narrative involved particularly the music involved in this idea will relate to the target audience and will capture the audience'd attention through nostalgia.

The time this ident is on will be around 6pm, i think this be a great time to have my Ident on TV because that is the most popular time due to the family getting home from work or school, i think this would be a perfect time due to the families watching sitting down at 'dinner time'.

The ident will be advertised before music shows such as 'Classic hits' and 'Top 40'. I think this would appeal to the audience because the intro would have 60's and 80's music which the show would relate to, also if there is classic hits on the TV the target audience of that show will enjoy the ident.

i am going to film with the technique of stop motion i will also use after effect. Firstly Stop Motion will be useful because it will give me freedom when creating my idea. Adding to this i will use After effects to add some finishing touches to my idea, i feel this will be useful because it can make my final product look colourful and vibrant

IDEA 2
The design is a attracting in the target audience because of how unique yet how simple it is adding to this because of the design involved it will attract the audience because I feel everybody will like it and will be thoroughly interested in watching it. Furthermore the target audience is teen to middle aged men or women because my narrative involves ‘family’ I feel the target audience would relate to the characters.
The design is a reflection through the narrative involves such a spending time with friends and family ITV is a huge channel which centres around family shows X Factor on Britain's Got Talent so by having an idea that uses family it captures the spirit but also targets the correct audience.

This ident will be shown up around 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. this will be a great time to show the item because this is a popular time for families this would be a perfect time because families are a large chunk of my target audience adding to this I feel by having families that captures the correct brand identity I TV stands for.

the type of shows that my item will be shown before will be family orientated music shows such as karaoke shows I feel shows like this would be a great idea because it carries on with the Family theme with links back to the idea and the channel

I have chosen to film with a camera but also some bits of the ident maybe animated I thought this would be a good idea because I can have the Best of Both Worlds when designing my Ident (Camera and After effects)






 IDEA 3


The design will attract the target audience because it will be simple, colourful and effective by making it simple the target audience will enjoy it more because they don't have to pay too much attention to the narrative also the bright colours and family feel will attract all ages from the target audience

The design will reflect the channel because the ident is unique and quirky which is a lot like the channel itself the idea stands out a lot which will make the channel more vibrant and interesting  for the viewing audience.

the time I want my item to be on his early afternoon I said this would be a great time to have my hair done on ITV music because it will b day time 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. this time is very busy time for a younger audience and an older audience and when my target audience starts to watch television.

the show that will be shown after my then or before my item will be top 40 and possibly top 10 I think this will be a great idea because the simple top 40 would be a nice normal change when compared to the unique and vibrant ident. Adding to this the quirky Ident maybe a nice change when compared to a simple Ident that is normally featured.

The Ident is strictly going to be After Effects I feel this is harder than doing live action and more challenging but this could be equally as rewarding due to the freedom I have when creating this Ident. Adding to this an animated will attract the audience because of what can be introduced into it but also it will make a nice change to a live action at Ident

Ident 4
The design and ident is attracting the audience through the colours and the popular music choice i have chosen, i think this is a unique and different way to create an ident instead of going down the narrative route which is quite popular, so i will by using bright colours and catchy beats i will appeal to a huge audience but just in a different, unique way.

My Ident is a reflection of the channel because it reflects the audience and by using the new music, it can appeal to a much bigger younger audience, I plan on advertising new and old music, so i feel this Ident can reflect the channel for the new and older audiences in terms of music taste. Adding to this, it is a reflection of the channel because the ident is very unique, which is a lot like the channel and the shows they have on there channels.

The time this Ident can be shown i feel is any time, because this ident supports any music, i feel this ident can be shown at any time, preferably later in the day, possibly about 7-9pm, i think these would be good times because a  younger audience tend to listen to music channels they tend to be very popular channels at night. This ident i feel doesn't  need a certain time because it could be on at any time and entertain the audience watching. Adding to this, because my ident can advertise 'party' music i feel later at night would be better because that is when people would be listening to it and celebrating whilst it being on in the background,

The ident is going to advertise 'new party music' 'Sounds of 2016' and 'Classic Tracks', i feel these would be great programs to advertise because they relate to the younger and the older audience, This is a good idea because then i can build a mass audience of all ages, young or old. Adding to this my music would gain huge attraction through all audience's which would make it the most popular music channel on TV.

I am going to use the technique of animation with After Effects, i feel this would be the best option when creating my Ident because of the complex animation idea i have, adding to this i have complete freedom  when creating my Ident, if i was to use any other techniques such as Stop motion, this may be more difficult and could cause some problems and i wouldn't have as much freedom when making my Ident like i would with an Animation based Ident. Adding to this, because i am using After Effects, although it will be difficult i feel that i can extend my ideas even further and make my idea even better when i creating it.

Evaluation for Quantitative and Qualitative

Evaluation

I feel that qualitative is more important for many reasons; my first reason is because it allows the company to connect with the audience and helps them improve on there game.  This is vital for the success of the game because it allows the company to improve through the audience’s thoughts on the game. This is important because I feel the qualitative research involved in a game shows how much the company listens to the fans. Adding to this, I feel this is more important because it gives the games companies’ constructive criticism shows the bugs in the game and makes sure the company knows how they could improve upon the game.


Quantitative, although very useful and good, statistics are important for the success of the game, statistics give a helpful insight into how many people buy the game, where the audiences are from and where the game sells the best. This is vital because without these statistics the game would not reach the potential that it could possibly reach with Quantitative Research. My opinion is that quantitative research is very much needed because numbers and stats are important when finding out general information about your audience, but in terms of importance and how much it would benefit the game, I think that qualitative is needed more because it shows that the companies listen to the fans and listen to there input.

They're many ways you can categorise an audience when looking at games, the two biggest ways are socio-economic status and Psycho-graphics. These two are the biggest because Socioeconomic Status depends on a combination of variables, including occupation, education, incomewealth, and place of residence. This is important when analysing video games, especially for the team that are marketing it because they will want to know where is best to sell the game because then they will be able to make more money depending on where it is sold. Psycho-graphics is the study of personality, values, opinions, attitudes, interests, and lifestyles. This is very different to the first way, This deals with the audience on a different level analysing their personalities more instead of just there income etc. When looking at Fallout 4 we looked at a few psycho-graphs but found Explorer as the one that relates most to our audience. We feel this is the best one because our audience are 14-50 year old who play the game to have a new challenge and adventure. I feel the use of Socio-economic status is great to identify where your biggest audience is and possibly your most profitable audience but i feel  as the more important and useful method to identify an audience is Psycho-graphs, we feel that this is better because it identifies your audience a lot more and can help the gaming company identify who they should appeal the game too. Overall the first method is better for marketing the game and the second method is best for appealing to certain audiences depending on the game they have made. E.G A sports game may appeal to a different psycho-graph than this one which is Explorer.
