JOBS AFTER COLLEGE

My three strengths for my Film Studies course at Manchester university, DEGREE

1) I would need great literature skills, due to me writing a lot of screen plays and i will be analysing films, and other topics, i feel this is one of my biggest strengths due to me having a great love of writing and specifically the analysis of media based topics such as films, documentaries and music videos.

Using my great English, literature and language skills, i would be able to use these to my advantage when creating screen plays and scripts, i also feel these kinds of skills are hugely important when creating projects and would certainly help me get a higher grade in university.

2) I would also need great work ethic, due to me having done work for a long period of time in college, working with projects such as documentaries and music videos, i would feel this is one of my biggest strengths and would help me improve my work even more.

Also my work ethic means that i always complete work on time and i am always enthusiastic about work and its always done on time and accordingly, My work ethic allows me to work with anyone and anywhere, this is a massive strength because it allows me to be a flexible worker.

3) Leader- I feel within this course it would need a strong capable leader for a team, whether you are working in groups or just with a partner, i feel being a leader in these types of situations would be very reassuring and its always good knowing that they're strong capable people that are able to complete work on time and efficiently in your group i feel these are some of my biggest strengths for this course.

Things I could improve on:

1)- Time I feel that i could improve on the timing of my work as its an important factor that needs to be gradually improved on. I feel I need to manage my time more effectively between my academic and social demands, This is very difficult thing but I am willing to improve on it, to get the necessary requirements for my long term career in media industry.

2) Organisation- My organisation skills need to be improved upon due to time and not being prepared, this is a thing that drastically needs work because organisation skills are required in media work. As it does in everything therefore organisation skills are vital as this shows my presentation skills.

3) Sensitivity- I feel this is a thing I could improve on because how sensitive you are and criticism are a big part in becoming a successful media student. Thick skin is a massive part in media because it allows you to take criticism lightly and not get offended when somebody doesn't like your idea or a part of your project.

Sixth Month Practical Film Making (apprenticeship) - 3 Strengths 

1) Team player - This is a huge strength of mine because I am a hard working team player who exceeds expectations when working in groups, this is a great quality to have because i have the ability to listen and evaluate situations which is beneficial as i feel i can confidently communicate with a wide variety of people as this is needed in the media industry.

2) Self-Confidence- This is an important aspect for my job in the Media because you need to work with people and give your own views on projects and ideas and you also need self confidence to point across an idea, that might make group work better. Adding to this Self-Confidence is a huge part of talking on presentations and in meetings.

3) Going out of ones way- This, again like the others is a strength of mine because i am always putting people ahead of me and making there projects and there work a priority ahead of mine, i feel this is a good attribute to have because it means you are unselfish and very helpful to other students or workers.

Things i could improve on-

1) Patience- I feel i could improve on this due to patience being a huge part when in groups and working with other students, this is also needed because when in the media industry i will need patience when waiting for work from others and relying on people, this is going to be a difficult thing to work on but i will achieve it.

2) Bossy- This is a thing i could work on due to me being bossy at times for example when work isn't in on time or were doing group work and somebody isn't putting the same amount as effort as everybody else, by me being bossy it makes students not want to work with me and isn't good when working in the media industry.

3) Stubbornness- Stubbornness is a thing i need to improve on quite a lot due to me always wanting my own ideas to happen and always wanting my own way, This, i need to improve on because although a team player, I have to learn to trust peoples ideas and not just go for my ideas all the time. I will do this by listening to peoples ideas more instead of being selfish and always using my ideas for projects.

BA HONS ANIMATION

1) Open minded- I feel this would be a great attribute to have because i will have to keep an open minded when learning about animation, different types of animation and how to do it, also keeping an open mind on anything you do in the media industry. When doing animation you may be working in teams or groups when working on projects you have to keep an open mind when talking about ideas for the animation projects.

2) Passionate- although this apply's to all 3 jobs, i would have to be very passionate when looking into doing a job such as animation due to it being a long and time consuming job when making animation. Adding to this, being passionate about a job is always good and would help when doing the 3 year course at university. This is why i feel this is also one of my strengths.

3)Adventurous- Just like the other strengths, being adventurous when designing animations would be a very good attribute to have because it would let me to think outside the box when talking and thinking of ideas for my work in university, also being adventurous will help me create better animation based content.

Things i could improve on-

Lazy- Sometimes i am lazy and although my work ethic is excellent, i sometimes get distracted and don't do my work as fast as i could be doing, i feel this is a bad aspect to my work because it will stop my group from doing there work and achieve there goals and i would have to catch up on previous work if its not done on time i may fail the course, i will improve this by focusing more during working hours.

Distracted easily- I feel this course although a interesting and an amazing course i feel i would get distracted easily, this is a massive weakness because if I don't get out of the habit of getting distracted easy now, it will effect my media based career in the future. Adding to this my work may not get finished on time  and i may fail the course if I don't hand the work in on time. Just like the other thing i need to work on which is Laziness.

Lack of confidence (work) I feel this is a big loss when doing my work, i am always asking teachers or fellow students to look and approve if my work is okay or not, i feel this is a huge weakness because it will affect me when doing my work and also when asking for criticism it may affect how i do my work and also how could my work will be in terms of progress and detail.
